Start with the basics
Look at your liability limits first. They pay for damage and injuries you cause to other people, and a slide through an icy intersection is exactly the kind of accident they are there for.
- Collision can help pay to repair your own vehicle after an accident, including one on ice.
- Comprehensive can help with damage that is not a collision, such as a moose strike or a falling branch.
- Emergency road service can help when you are stuck in a ditch or need a tow.
Think about the other vehicles in the garage
If a snow-machine or ATV comes out when the snow does, check that it has its own coverage. An auto policy usually does not follow you onto the trail.
